The “Aachbad” bathing facility in Singen is a modern recreational and sports complex created through the redevelopment of an existing site. The project combines swimming, family, and leisure functions, offering diverse user zones set within a green environment.
The key objective was to create a contemporary bathing space while respecting the constraints imposed by the existing infrastructure.
A new bathing facility within the existing framework
The design of the “Aachbad” bathing facility in Singen was developed as part of the modernization of an existing pool complex. The design goal was to create a contemporary bathing facility while remaining within the footprint of the former 50-meter concrete basin. The rectangular sports pool was replaced with multifunctional basins of varied forms.
The complex consists of a 25-meter sports pool with five lanes and convenient step access for seniors, recreational pools equipped with underwater and above-water massage features, water jets, a lazy river, and accessible stepped entries, as well as a diving pool with a tower and paddling pools for children.
The division into fully independent basins allows for differentiated water temperatures and more efficient energy management.
The concept comprises a complex of outdoor pools with diverse functions, designed within the existing geometry of the facility. The bathing complex includes:
a sports pool
a recreational pool
a children’s paddling pool
a water slide
relaxation zones
a technical building
The functional layout is based on dividing the space into zones with different usage characteristics, allowing the facility to be used simultaneously by various user groups—from active swimmers to families with children.
The entire complex is integrated into the surrounding greenery, reinforcing its recreational character and encouraging outdoor leisure. The adopted design solutions have made it possible to create a clear, functional, and durable space that meets contemporary user standards.
