The Freizeitbad Vallendar is a seasonal open-air bathing facility of a sports and recreational character, comprising a complex of outdoor pools along with supporting user amenities.
Seasonal water recreation within a well-structured functional layout
The project envisions the creation of a clear and efficient layout for an open-air bathing facility, operating as seasonal recreational infrastructure. The scheme combines sports, leisure, and family-oriented functions within a single, cohesive spatial framework, characteristic of European facilities of this type.
An important aspect of the concept is the integration of water zones with the surrounding green areas, which serve as recreational spaces during the summer season. The facility is designed as a place for everyday leisure for the local community, with a clear division into zones corresponding to different modes of use.
The facility includes:
- an outdoor swimming pool
- a leisure pool
- water slides
- diving boards/platforms
- a children’s zone (parent–child) with water play features
- paddling pools and shallow basins for the youngest users
- water attractions (jets, massage features, aquatic installations)
- themed play areas (including spatial elements such as a “cave”)
- a changing building with ticket office
- a technical building
- a kiosk with terrace
- green areas and relaxation zones
The spatial composition enables the parallel use of the facility by different user groups, ensuring clear circulation and intuitive movement between zones.
