Silesian Business Center Radius

The Silesian Business Center was conceived in response to the need for a seamlessly operating complex in the heart of Silesia. This conurbation, comprising 19 cities, is one of the most important regions on the map of Poland. Located in the heart of Europe, it offers excellent connectivity through all modern modes of transport.

DTS as the Starting Point

The expanding road network connecting the individual cities continues to support their development. In addition to the A1 and A4 motorways, one of the most important routes in Silesia is the Cross-City Highway (DTS). Running through the heart of the conurbation, it links its key cities and facilitates efficient travel between their centres. It was this very route that became the starting point for the entire concept. Radius was positioned at the midpoint of the DTS. The 125-metre tower was placed at the intersection of the highway’s original alignment, which now curves around the development site for technical reasons. The building’s dynamic form, generated by radial lines extending from the centre of the scheme, has been symbolically cut through — much like the cities of the conurbation themselves, strung along the Cross-City Highway.

Dynamic Form and Functional Diversity

The building’s form was generated by radial lines extending from the centre of the development toward the individual cities of the conurbation, and then symbolically intersected. Its vibrant, dynamic expression results from the shifting arrangement of the successive floors. Starting from the uppermost levels, the tower’s floor plates are shaped by recessed sections. In the middle part, the façade becomes calmer and more restrained, while further down, cantilevered elements begin to emerge from its outline, gradually merging at ground level with the composition of the surrounding landscape design. The building has been divided into distinct functional zones. Its interior includes a shopping centre, dining areas, a hotel with a full range of leisure facilities, conference rooms, lecture halls and cinema spaces. The tower meets the rigorous requirements of LEED certification. Owing to its location by the DTS, the travel time to the centre of the regional capital is just 13 minutes. The A4 motorway, the Sośnica interchange, Pyrzowice Airport, Ostrava and Balice are also all within easy reach.
