A modern complex in Radwanice combines sports, recreation, and education into one cohesive space. It includes a sports hall, a swimming and leisure pool, a sauna complex, and a squash zone, creating a place of activity for all user groups. A distinctive feature of the project is the “colorful village”—an intimate educational zone designed with the youngest users in mind.
Colorful village
The educational zone has been designed as a cluster of small, autonomous “houses” that together create an intimate and welcoming environment for the youngest users. The varied roof forms, color palette, and spatial arrangement evoke the image of a small village, where each element has its own identity while remaining part of a cohesive whole. This space fosters a sense of safety and familiarity—instead of an anonymous corridor, it offers an environment aligned with a child’s scale and perception. Green gardens introduced between the “houses,” along with a central atrium, strengthen the connection with nature, supporting both learning and free play.
Spatial coherence and openness to the surroundings
The building has been designed as an extension and complement to the existing school infrastructure. The new volume, connected to the school by a linking structure, forms a cohesive functional and spatial composition. The design opens toward its surroundings through a recessed entrance and a distinctive chamfered corner, strengthening its relationship with the central part of the site. The concept is complemented by an educational park, which extends the building’s functions into the outdoor space.
Sport zone
The complex is divided into three main functional zones: sports, pool, and educational, which interpenetrate and are connected by a representative main lobby—the central circulation hub.
The sports zone includes a multifunctional sports hall with seating for 310 spectators, designed to accommodate events as well as everyday activities.
Additional facilities include two squash courts and a striking 13-meter-high climbing wall, visible from the lobby space through glazed walls.
Swimming pool area
The pool area forms an extensive recreational and sports complex, comprising a six-lane swimming pool, a children’s pool, and a training and rehabilitation pool with a movable floor, as well as a leisure zone with water attractions and a jacuzzi.
The complex is complemented by a comprehensive sauna area—including steam and dry saunas, cooling zones, and a salt cave—as well as a food and beverage area.
Educational zone
The educational zone, located on level +1, has been designed as a safe environment for the youngest users. It consists of eight classrooms in the form of “houses” with pitched roofs, creating an intimate scale and the character of a “colorful village.” The space is complemented by green gardens and a central atrium, supporting integration, play, and relaxation.
