Waldschwimmbad Dietzenbach – outdoor swimming facility in Dietzenbach

Waldschwimmbad Dietzenbach is a comprehensive modernization of an outdoor swimming facility, in which the existing structure was reorganized and enhanced with distinctive architectural elements and contemporary recreational solutions. The project is defined by a clear spatial organization and a strong visual identity.

Architecture as an element shaping the identity of the place

The project focuses on giving the existing facility a new clarity and distinct character through the introduction of recognizable architectural elements. Color-defined entrance pavilions and lightweight canopy structures create a strong visual identity and organize the entrance zone.

An important part of the composition is also formed by water installations with a clear, technical and sculptural character—steel cascades, vertical water jets, and interactive features that introduce movement and diversify the user experience.

The diving tower serves as the functional focal point of the sports area—its multi-level structure emphasizes the character of this zone, while remaining subordinate to the logical layout of the pools, without creating additional landscape connections.

A clear space that naturally guides the user

The layout of the facility is based on a simple and intuitive division of functions, allowing users to immediately understand how to navigate and use the space. The swimming pool, with clearly marked lanes, forms the central element of the sports zone, while the diving area with its distinctive tower acts as a natural complement.

The leisure area has been enhanced with elements that introduce movement and play into the space - a tube slide, water jets, and a climbing wall above the water, allowing for activity that ends with direct entry into the pool. These features give the facility a more contemporary and attractive character.

The areas surrounding the pools have been designed in an orderly and user-friendly way - wide terraces, clear circulation paths, and relaxation zones, including wooden decks and lounging areas, provide a comfortable environment for users.

Additional elements include street furniture and spatial details - such as stone accents within the pool basins, small technical structures, and service points - which help organize the space and give it a more human scale.

The supporting buildings have been simplified and unified - colorful pavilions and lightweight canopies clearly define the entrance and service areas, making the entire facility easy to read and navigate.
