The Bocholt Aquapark is a modern 16,000 m² swimming pool complex offering a variety of water attractions, including pools, slides, saunas, and relaxation areas. Thanks to its innovative design, which incorporates semi-transparent roofs and natural vegetation, the facility has been providing unforgettable experiences for over 20 years and is a success both functionally and economically.
The main attraction of the recreational pool hall is the pool in the lagoon area. Waterfalls, geysers, massage loungers, water jets, and wild springs are just some of the water attractions on offer, ensuring an unforgettable experience. The charm of the place is enhanced by underwater lighting in the pool basins and the natural greenery surrounding the pool. Bathing in the rushing stream is a unique experience, where the body is freely carried by the current. In two jacuzzis (on the rushing stream peninsula and in the grotto of the beach area of the wave pool), you can experience a massage with thousands of bubbles and bubbling water. Children as young as six can slide down the 110-meter slide. True adrenaline fans enjoy the multimedia slide, opened in 2009. This 70-meter tube features effects such as "Crazy Lights," "Running Lights," and "Day Light Effects."
The Bocholt project placed high demands on creativity and cost-consciousness during its implementation. Only modern solutions could ensure the pool's essential appeal. The use of a semi-transparent roof covering and heavily glazed façade surfaces allows vegetation to grow in conditions close to natural ones within the complex. Thanks to the transparency of the façade and roof covering, natural phenomena (sun, clouds, light, greenery) become part of the facility's atmosphere, creating the impression of swimming under the open sky. The BAIA Aquapark in Bocholt is a prime example of the design, construction, and operation of a swimming pool facility that, for over 20 years of operation, has not only provided a rich experience for its users but also thrived economically, generating substantial revenue for its managers.
The paddling pool complex for parents with small children is a separate area within the main pool hall. This separation from the rest of the complex not only minimizes the burden on users of the recreational pool area, but above all, prevents the youngest children from uncontrolled crossing into the pool areas with increased water depth. The paddling pool area, with its varied shapes and depths, specially selected water features and a multitude of interactive attractions, nestled among the natural greenery, is a world that enhances children's experiences. The main attraction is a pirate ship with water slides for the youngest children.
The area of the sauna, due to the different expectations of the users, was separated from the water park landscape. The shape and staging of the interior is primarily oriented on the cultural origin of the offers of individual saunas. For example, Finnish saunas with light therapy and biosauna with various smells and light effects were arranged as separate huts of tree trunks, integrated into the natural system of rocks. Steam baths are equipped with oriental elements and materials typical of them.
